SolarWinds
Launches Secure File Sharing for Enterprises Through Their Secure Data Center
or Private Cloud
IT management software
maker SolarWinds has added new secure file sharing
capabilities to its managed file transfer solution, SolarWinds
Serv-U Managed File Transfer (MFT) Server, which enables users
to securely send or request files through an easy-to-use Web interface.
Using the solution,
organizations can securely exchange information by hosting the file sharing
solution within their own data center or private cloud, removing the risks
associated with data stored with a third party service provider.
SolarWinds
Serv-U MFT Server can be deployed on Windows and Linux platforms, and enables
users to exchange files using FTP, FTPS, SFTP, HTTP and HTTPS over IPv4 or IPv6
networks.
The
secure file sharing solution also integrates with Active Directory, permitting
authentication or provisioning of an entire company or of specific departments,
and administrators can apply their own security policies, procedures, monitors,
and controls to abide by company security standards.
Administrators
can also control access to files, monitor activity, automate notifications, and
configure from any location through a Web-based management console, which also
allows admins to control and monitor bandwidth, access, quotas, and more.
Additionally,
users can set expiration dates or passwords and add messages to the recipient
of uploaded files.
The
solutions leverages secure partner data exchanges with FIPS 140-2 validated
cryptography and DMZ gateways, SolarWinds said.
โWhile
several popular third-party file sharing sites allow users to send and receive
files easily, SolarWinds Serv-U MFT Server offers a uniquely secure file
sharing system for the enterprise by keeping shared data within the data center
or private cloud,โ the company explained in a statement.
